Summer 2017

Sunday Social Club Run

Held every Sunday meeting at the Old Crown in Wigginton for 8:55am, before heading off to the country lanes at 9am prompt. Parking is available, however, the landlord has requested that we park around to the left, leaving the spaces closest to the pub for customers.

Group A will be a ride of approximately 40-50 miles at 15mph, with a cafe stop at approx half way.

There may be a shorter, slower ride depending on who turns up on the day.

The Sunday Club Runs are specifically designed to be social and fun for all cyclist new or old to the sport.  Routes vary from week to week offering different challenges and terrain.

Tuesday evening ride

'Glow Worm' ride, starting a 7:15pm from the Pretty Pigs in Amington. Typically a 25 mile ride in the lanes and suitable. The aim is to return at 9pm at the latest.

Wednesday morning ride

A short, social ride, starting from the cafe in Tamworth Castle Grounds (opposite the bowling green) at 9:30am. Ride will be approximately 20-25 miles with a cafe stop, all ability levels are welcome and nobody will be left behind, so it's suitable for beginners. The nearest car parks are at Holloway (down the road from the Castle Hotel) and next to Strykers, both of which are Pay and Display.

Thursday evening ride

'Wigginton Loop' socal/training ride, starting at 7:15pm from the Old Crown, Wigginton. All abilities are catered for with different groups for abilities. The route is a 20 mile circuit mostly on lanes and the fast group will usually do a slightly extended variation of the route so all riders will return to the Old Crown at a similar time.

Saturday rides

Held every Saturday leaving from The Old Crown Pub Wigginton @ 9am. Parking is available, however, the landlord has requested that we park around to the left, leaving the spaces closest to the pub for customers.

Group A will be a social ride of approx 40 miles with a cafe stop at approximately half way.  This will be run at a beginners pace so no one will be left behind.

Group B will be a social ride of approx 50 miles with a cafe stop at approximately half way.  Pace will be approx 15.5 to 16.5 mph.

There may also be a Group C which will be similar in distance to Group B but at a faster pace. This ride will only take place if riders request it and will be in addition to, rather than at the expense of, Group B.

There will be an option for a shorter beginners ride dependant on numbers.

All groups have a ride leader, who generally manages the ride and riders. The leader will know the route and café stop, and will be there to offer advice and guidance on Tamworth Cycling Club and cycling in general. He or she is also responsible for managing the pace of the group to suit riders varying abilities.  No rider is ever left behind.
